Total quality management has become a major focus of most contemporary manufacturing organizations. Students completing this emphasis will be prepared to seek positions in manufacturing in virtually all industries.

BUAD 670-3.0; World Class Service Management
Effective service management requires a multi-disciplinary approach involving marketing, management, human resource management, and information and production/operations management. This course provides a foundation in these areas as they pertain to service management. Content for each area will include a conceptual overview of its importance to service quality, specific tools representative of the area, and exercises to demonstrate practical application. The focus is on the integrative requirements of service quality.
OPTM 610-3.0; Customer-Focused Process: Quality Management and Metrics
A study of the major dimensions of product quality, its strategic and competitive implications and the meaning of quality to manufacturers, suppliers, and customers. Also includes a fundamental, yet comprehensive coverage of quality control concepts such as ISO 9000. A practical state-of-the-art approach is stressed with enough theory being presented to ensure that the student has a sound understanding of the basic principles of quality assurance. Prerequisites: OPTM 600.
OPTM 620-3.0; Managing Supply Chains
As companies seek to provide their products and services to customers faster, cheaper, and better than the competition, the need for cooperation between suppliers, manufacturers, and markets becomes increasingly important. This course addresses the strategic implications of an integrated supply chain and the management of functional activities required to make a supply chain successful. This course develops the integration of functional activities within the company and between supply chain partners with the help of textbooks, cases, and selected readings. Prerequisites: OPTM 600.
OPTM 630-3.0; Managing Projects for Competitive Advantage
An in-depth analysis of the techniques available to identify, formulate, and implement a successful operations strategy. The need to link operations choices with strategic objectives is stressed. Provides methods to determine the appropriate strategic choice in both structural and infrastructure decisions. Project management techniques will be discussed to assure the successful implementation of these large scale projects. Prerequisites: QUAN 550 and ACCT 550 or consent from the instructor.
